Maverick is about to change business travel for the better- By David Sher and Aaron Green, the founders

We founded Maverick because we wanted to make business travel more fun, and because we felt technology today provides a way to do that.

Maverick is about to change business travel for the better- By David Sher and Aaron, the founders

Both Aaron and I are frequent business travellers, so we think we have a decent idea of good bits and the bad bits. We’ve also had our fair share of adventurous vacations too, and one of the things we’ve noticed is that there are far more people who shout from the rooftops about their personal vacations than brag about their business travel. The recurring theme for business travel is that, after a while, meh… you lose the novelty, you’re busy during the day, you stop seeing places in the evening, and you stay in a business hotel and pretty often end up eating dinner with your Kindle. Sound familiar? I’ve enjoyed some trips more than others, but it’s not as great as it should be, and that’s despite the office picking up the tab.

After a few years of racking up mileage points, we find most business travellers no longer feel so damn lucky to see the world on a corporate credit card. So we’ve decided to try and put the fun back into business travel. Frequent travellers tell us the best way to start is to help them connect with each other, so they can experience the cities they’re in, together. Like most social technologies the key to doing that well is:

  • Attracting a great community who will enrich each others’ experience
  • Building a product with an excellent UI, that’s fast and convenient
  • Continuously listening to and designing with our target user base

We have an awesome team of developers, some great advisors, and with Aaron’s deep product management background, my VC experience and our networks, we’re confident we can put something out there that’s fun to use and enriches travel for our specific demographic.

Over the next 3 months, we’ll continue building for our beta launch. We’ll be looking for testers, advisors, evangelists, employees, and all sorts to help us provide the best, most relevant, service to frequent business travellers. If you’d like to stay in touch with us (and be the first to know when we go live) sign up at www.totalmaverick.com. And if you’d like to speak to Aaron or I directly about what features you’d want to see or a partnership you’d be interested to explore, we’d genuinely be happy to hear from you. Email us directly on david@totalmaverick.com and aaron@totalmaverick.com. You can also reach us on Twitter: @total_maverick.

Here’s to making business travel fun. Again.
