JetBlue Airways open a new route between Washington DC and Jacksonville, Florida

JetBlue Airways have recently announced their plans to instigate a new, non-stop route operating between Washington, D.C. and Jacksonville, Florida. The new route will get underway on December 18th and will operate twice daily.

Flights from Reagan National airport in Washington, D.C. will depart at 9:25. and 16:10 respectively, and are scheduled to arrive at Jacksonville International Airport at 11:25. and 18:09. Flight times for planes departing from Jacksonville will be 9:10. and 12:30., Arriving in Washington at 10:59 and 14:21.

The latest expansion to JetBlue’s itinerary is in addition to flights added during the summer, of them departing from the airline hub at Reagan National and arriving at Charleston, South Carolina; Hartford, Connecticut; and Nassau, Bahamas.

JetBlue is also planning to begin flying from Washington Reagan to an additional two Florida destinations, Fort Myers and West Palm Beach, with the inaugural flights also due to get underway on December 18th.

According to a spokesperson for JetBlue, opening these latest routes have been made possible after they were acquired from American Airlines following its merger with US Airways in December.

In order to comply with the terms set by the US Department of Justice and to gain approval for the merger, the new super airline, now the largest in the world, has given up on a number of the domestic flight routes.
