Cygnus Sells Heavy Construction and Logistics Group to AC Business Media

Cygnus Business Media the highly diversified business-to-business media corporation has continued the policy of reducing the number of companies in their portfolio having agreed to sell their Heavy Construction and Logistics Group to AC Business Media, a new and dynamic publishing company, based in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.

According to information released by Cygnus Business Media, the Heavy Construction and Logistics Group produce a total of nine trade base publications with related Web sites as well as organizing an annual trade show.

As the name suggests, the Heavy Construction and Logistics Group gear their publications towards the heavy construction market, providing integrated media solutions with digital, print, event and social media platforms.

Under the heading of anchors, the Heavy Construction and Logistics Group issues six printed and media publications:

  • Asphalt Contractor,
  • Concrete Contractor,
  • Equipment Today,
  • Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction,
  • Rental and Sustainable Construction.
  • OEM Off-Highway

The Logistics Group division, also publish Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazines, along with digital platforms for both brands.

The Heavy Construction and Logistics Group also organises an annual National Pavement Expo, with the next one is due to be held in Nashville, Tennessee in January of 2015.

According to a spokesperson for Cygnus Business Media, the company is pleased to have found a buyer of these highly profitable multi-platform properties serving the heavy construction and logistics print and digital publications business that will utilise the current team’s creativity and experience.

AC Business Media, owned by Anil Narang and Carl Wistreich, will be welcoming Kris Flitcroft as the new company’s executive vice president, a role which she has filled in the past for Cygnus, where she also acted for many years as executive vice president in charge of the Residential, Construction, Landscape and Facilities segments of the Cygnus portfolio.

Terms of the acquisition deal remain confidential, at least for the time being.

In 2013 Cygnus sold their agriculture-related portfolio to the Washington, D.C. based American Farm Bureau Federation, a nonprofit organisation which supports the United States farming community.

Despite the recent sell-offs Cygnus remain a major force in publishing of trade magazines, based around aviation, construction, public safety, technology and the transportation sectors. Cygnus also organises a number of important trade shows, such as EMSWorldExpo, Firehouse Expo and the Facilities Expo Series.
