Air China to add a second daily flight to their busy Beijing -London Heathrow route

As has been on the cards for some time, Air China have now officially announced that that they be will be adding a second daily flight on its Beijing-London Heathrow service, starting from October 26th.

With the augmentation of this new flight to their Beijing –Heathrow schedule, Air China will begin to operate Airbus A330-200 aircraft on both flights.

The new addition to the Air China schedule will depart from Beijing at 14:30 landing in London at 17:50. The Beijing- London flights will depart at 20:25, arriving in Beijing at 12:45 p.m. the next day.

Air China’s A330-200s have been configured to seat a total of 251 passengers, 215 in economy class and 36 in business class, who, apart from a range of other services, will enjoy seats that are 21” wide, with a 50cms. pitch”.

The new route rotation is expected to replace Air China’s summer only flight to and London’s Gatwick Airport, in May 2012 as a result of the carrier being unsuccessful in their efforts to secure additional slots at Heathrow. The Gatwick-Beijing route originally operated all year round, four days a week, reverting to a seasonal service in 2013.

Announcing the increased service a spokesperson for Air China executive expressed the airline’s satisfaction at being able to increase their service to and from Heathrow was always its primary growth target.

Earlier this year, Air China launched a new service from Beijing to Washington Dulles International Airport.
